COHORT
Rooted is a nine month discipleship intensive designed to develop, empower, and activate the leader within you. Rooted is about finding clarity in your brokenness, exploring the wonder of who you are, and courageously embracing your journey of faith and wholeness. We want to partner and come alongside you to help you grow and bear fruit that will make an impact in your life and the lives around you. Ultimately, we want you to become more and more Christlike.
ROOTED DISTINCTIVES
Rooted focuses are 3 areas of growth: spiritual maturity, relational health, and missional leadership. In each area of growth, we seek to grow each student in their own unique needs, perspectives, and callings. This growth will occur in cohorts.
Rooted challenges cohort members to take responsibility for their own growth. Momentum is intentionally created for each person to passionately pursue growth by utilizing tools designed to empower them in their journeys of faith.
Rooted is designed to be experienced in the context of everyday life. Therefore, it is open to singles, couples, those with families and full time jobs and responsibilities.
Rooted gives cohort members the opportunity to engage in our growing and thriving local church. This is accomplished through consistent interaction with your mentors, fellow cohort members, and opportunities to serve within the wider New Mercy family.
You can expect
Mentoring: Each member will be placed in a cohort, which includes a mentor. Each member will meet weekly with their mentor with other cohort members. And can also receive mentoring outside of the weekly meetings for further discipleship.
Formation: Each member will go through different course materials and tools to help him or her grow in identity, live out purpose, become emotionally and spiritually healthy, and flourish in his or her context. Each member will be equipped and empowered to cultivate an integrated, rich, Spirit-filled life that will make a difference in their sphere of influence.
Encounter: Each member will participate in one retreat that is designed to develop a thriving deeper life with Jesus.
Relationship: Growth happens best in family. Each member will be placed in a cohort. Cohorts are thoughtfully created small groups composed of 3-4 members and 1 mentor.
We expect
Teachability: A willingness to grow must be accompanied by humility and a willingness to learn.
Authenticity: A commitment to cultivating honest, healthy, wholehearted relationships with others in Cohort groups.
Investment: Rooted requires a 10 hour committed investment of your time and energy each week (e.g. readings, Cohort meetings, exercises, activations, etc). It also requires a $75 commitment of your financial resources that will cover the cost of materials and courses.
Hunger & Dedication: You will get out of Rooted what you put into it. We cannot make growth happen for you! It takes an active and ongoing resolve to engage with and persevere with the process. Full participation with Cohort meetings, assignments and exercises, retreat, regular Sunday service attendance, and once a month Wednesday Night Prayer attendance is expected.
Dedication: A crucial part of growing in this intensive discipleship program is serving in our Sunday services in one of our ministry teams. We will place you on a team that is best suited to your unique giftings and skills. In addition, we expect each student to be leading at some capacity within the church upon completing Rooted cohorts. Our goal isn’t just for you to gain tools and teachings to transform your own life, but to help transform others’ lives through leadership.
